Abstract
This case describes a Reeves' muntjac deer (Muntiacus reevesi) with a suspected undescended testicle or cryptorchidism. The cryptorchid testicle could not be palpated or visualized with sonography. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) imaging was performed to avoid an exploratory surgical operation, but no cryptorchid testicle was discovered. The final diagnosis was a singular testicular anorchia. Cryptorchidism and hypogonadism affect a relatively small population of male infants but are most common male genitourinary anomalies. Identifying the location of the undescended testicle is a paramount because surgical intervention should occur before the individual's first birthday. Although sonography and magnetic resonance imaging can help identify the location of undescended testicles, when the testicle is intra-abdominal, surgical intervention often is required to identify or confirm location.
